Problem Based Learning: A Tactical Games Approach for Team Handball 

Move into a dynamic approach to teaching skill and game concepts that will lead to successful game play. Learn to create tactical problems to get students to think and understand how to react and move during dynamic game play.  Participate in a variety of lead-up games that will reinforce the tactics of team handball and skills necessary to play.  The drills and activities that you learn can transfer over to any team or invasion game.

Big Three in PE: Integrating Health and Skill-Related Fitness

Examine your current methods of developing health and skill-related fitness. Experience creative ways to make fitness and skill development fun and engaging for all students.  Engage in a variety of Flag Rugby skill-related fitness activities that will support the development of health-related fitness. Each of the activities are fundamental to the Functional Movement Training (FMT) Method and can be used or modified for different sports/activities.

ADAPT- Alternative Dynamic Activity Preparation Training: Racquet Sports

Move from the traditional static or dynamic warm-up to an effective activity preparation utilizing the movement patterns used in racquet sports. Engage in an ADAPT that has been developed for badminton and utilized with middle and high school students. Use the elements of ADAPT to develop a warm-up specific to each of your instructional units.

Spatial Awareness: Where Do I Go? and How Do I Move?

Come learn effective methods to teaching early elementary students about boundaries, relationships, pathways and locomotor movements. Explore creative ways to use a variety of equipment while supporting an age and developmentally appropriate learning environment.  While participating in different activities, you will learn how to embed assessment into each.

Dodge, Flee and Chase

These three skills represent the foundation from which students learn how to move within space. Engage in a variety of activities that will support your students' understanding of skill, movement and activity concepts. Through developing an understanding of the elements of movement: space, effort and relationships, students will be better prepared to engage in a variety of invasion games.  Differentiated activities will support the engagement of a diverse student population.

Develop the knowledge and skills required to design an effective activity preparation which utilizes movement patterns essential to skillful participation in various sports. Prepare your athletes by facilitating the essential physiological changes that are fundamental to a "warm-up" and serve as a foundation for movement skill acquisition. Learn more about the current research behind movement and performance in youth sports.

Coaches as Teachers- Providing a Safe and Effective Training Environment for Your Athletes

Working with young athletes is more than knowing the game. Create a positive training environment by expanding your knowledge and understanding of the physiological and psychological needs and differences of young athletes (nutrition, conditioning and motivation).

Sport Performance- Increasing Performance Through the Development of Movement Efficiency in Young Athletes

Learn how to enhance the performance of your young athletes by increasing their movement skill. Movement efficiency is the foundation of sport performance and is essential in creating dynamic strength, "Strengthen the movement, not the muscle."
